Luís Mota Duarte

In 2024, Luís Mota Duarte transitioned to the role of Deputy CEO at Sonae Sierra, while maintaining his responsibilities as Executive Director of Investment Management. Luís initially joined Sonae Sierra in 2018 as Chief Financial Officer & Executive Director of Investment Management, and before that, he led the Mergers and Acquisitions team at Sonae SGPS from 2014. Previously, he spent 14 years in London, notably as Director at Bridgepoint Capital, a leading European private equity firm, with €26 billion in assets under management. He has worked for Salomon Smith Barney in its Investment Banking division and in General Electric’s Business Development team. In the academic world, Luís Mota Duarte was Associate Fellow at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, until October 2020, and is currently Adjunct Professor at the Nova School of Business & Economics, in Lisbon, where he teaches Private Equity to Masters’ students.
